Privacy Policy

Who we are

Mist Journal is made by Sedir Studio, the publishing name of Fatih Eren Özçelik, an independent developer based in Türkiye, who is responsible for the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at privacy@sedirstudio.com.

Your journal stays on your device

Everything you create in the app, including entries, drafts, tags, time capsules, special days, and settings, is stored on your device. The app has no account and no server, and it doesn't send your journal to us or anyone else. We can't see, access, or recover it.

If you back up your iPhone with iCloud Backup or to a computer, iOS includes the app's data in that backup, as it does for most apps. These backups are managed by Apple under its own terms, and we have no access to them.

Backups you export

"Export Backup" creates a backup file of your journal on your device. It goes only where you choose to save or send it, such as Files, iCloud Drive, or AirDrop, and we never receive it. The file can only be opened with Mist Journal, but it's still a copy of your journal, so keep it somewhere you trust. If you store it with a service such as iCloud Drive, that service's privacy policy applies.

Permissions

The app asks for these permissions only when you use a feature that needs them:

• Notifications for reminders. They are scheduled on your device, without a push notification server. Some show text you entered, such as the name of a special day, and can appear on your lock screen.
• Face ID to lock the app. iOS performs the check, and the app never receives your biometric data.
• Microphone and speech recognition to dictate entries, a Plus feature where available. Speech is converted to text on your device. Audio isn't saved or sent anywhere, and only the resulting text becomes part of your entry.

All permissions are optional, and you can turn them off at any time in Settings › Mist Journal.

Purchases

Mist Journal Plus is sold by Apple through the App Store, and Apple handles payment. We never receive your name, email address, or payment details. To unlock Plus, the app checks your active purchases with Apple. Apple provides us with sales reports that don't identify you. Apple's Privacy Policy applies to purchases.

You can manage or cancel a subscription in Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions.

Crash reports and statistics

If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers (Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements › Share With App Developers), Apple may provide us with crash reports and usage statistics in a form that doesn't identify you. We use them only to fix problems and improve the app.

When you contact us

When you email support@sedirstudio.com or privacy@sedirstudio.com, or send feedback from the app, we receive your email address, your name if your email account shows it, your message and any attachments. Feedback sent from the app also includes the app and iOS version, which you can see and remove before sending.

We use this information only to reply to you, solve the issue you report, improve the app, and handle privacy requests. We keep it as long as needed for that, and no longer than two years after our last exchange. You can ask us to delete it sooner.

Please don't include sensitive information, such as health details, in your messages.

Sharing and international transfers

We don't sell personal data or share it for advertising. The app contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking code. We share personal data only with these service providers, and only for the purposes above:

• Cloudflare, Inc. (United States) forwards emails sent to our addresses to our mailbox.
• Google LLC (United States) provides the email service where we receive and store messages. See Google's Privacy Policy.

As a result, your emails may be processed outside your country, including in the United States. We may also disclose personal data to authorities when the law requires it. Apple handles purchases, device backups and analytics as an independent company under its own privacy policy.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict its processing, to receive a copy of it, and to complain to your data protection authority.

To make a request, email privacy@sedirstudio.com. We'll reply within 30 days. You can also delete your journal at any time with "Delete All Data" in the app's settings, or by deleting the app. Exported backup files and device backups remain where you stored them until you delete them.

Information for specific regions

European Union, EEA and United Kingdom. Under the GDPR and the UK GDPR, we process the information you send us when you contact us based on our legitimate interest in replying to you and improving the app (Article 6(1)(f)), on the need to provide the app you use (Article 6(1)(b)), and to meet legal obligations (Article 6(1)(c)). You can lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Türkiye. This policy also serves as the information notice under Article 10 of Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data (KVKK). We process the information you send us when you contact us under Article 5(2)(c), (ç) and (f), and you have the rights listed in Article 11. Applications under the KVKK must be made in Turkish, in writing, by registered email (KEP), with a secure electronic or mobile signature, or from an email address you've previously used with us. For a written application, ask privacy@sedirstudio.com for our postal address. If we reject your application or don't reply within 30 days, you can complain to the Personal Data Protection Board.
